She lies in a pool of dried blood, as close to her cold lifeless mother, daring not to move, hoping her mother would roll over and allow her a drink.

She won’t.

Her life and that of her calf have been decided by greed, an unfound desire to own something that is not yours. The mother’s beauty – her face, her kind lines and mothering noises, extinguished by a machete and a chainsaw, reduced to a blood-stained pulp.

Stop imagining, as this is real and happens every 18 hours.
